Our Music |
Our ChoirThe Chancel Choir leads the Ministry of Music every Sunday morning from the beginning of September until the end of June each year. This semi-professional group of choristers offer an eclectic repertoire, supportive of the Lectionary readings, week by week. You will hear anthems by Canadian composers, spirituals, global song, gospel songs and the traditional English anthems. Each year the choir presents two or three major works with orchestra. Included during this coming season are Solemn Mass in A by Cesar Franck, scored for harp, cello and organ accompaniment; also the Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, with The Trillium Brass Ensemble. Humbercrest has long been known for the superb acoustics in the sanctuary and a tradition of fine choral music. Come for several weeks and you will experience thoughtful and beautiful worship. Our Organ Humbercrest United Church has just completed a two-year restoration project on their 3-manual Casavant pipe organ. Installed originally in 1952, the instrument needed considerable mechanical repair. The organ is known for its lovely warm, rich tone, and this has not been changed. The refurbishment includes a new computer with multiple units of memory, transposer, eight new thumb pistons and new pedal board.
The Schulmerich Carillon has recently been restored, and is heard each Sunday morning before the Organ Prelude begins. It plays from the cupola on the east wing and can be heard throughout the immediate neighbourhood. |

The Joyful Chorus is rehearsing on Sundays after church and is open to any youth of Carousel age. For information or to get involved speak with Ted Grady or Libby Grant. Rehearsals will start back up in the Fall. |
