Humbercrest United Church

"A big city church with a small town feel"

Worship with Us

Our community gathers for worship as a church family every Sunday morning at 10:30. There are infra-red hearing devices available for use during the service as well as enlarged print Bibles and hymn books—please ask an usher.

Children, age 4 and over are encouraged to participate in our Children's Carousel Program (see below). Nursery Care is provided in our lower level stage area for children under the age of 4 during the service.

Also, for those who wish to have their young children remain with them during the service, a speaker system has been installed in the Narthex at the rear of the sanctuary. In this quiet area parents may enjoy worship while caring for the needs of their children.

Christian Children's "Carousel"

Our children's ministry program at Humbercrest has a new name: the Christian Children's CAROUSEL!!! The Carousel is unlike any Sunday School program you've ever seen.  Through Fall, our children will rotate through five activity stations (games, cooking, storytelling, crafts and video) which will tell the bible stories in different ways.

The Carousel is based on the increasingly popular "rotation model" of children’s ministry programming.  Instead of teaching a different biblical story to one age group, our station leaders will prepare one program to teach to the groups for five consecutive weeks. The children gather for a Sharing Circle with music and storytelling before and after the rotations.

Holy Communion

The sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated approximately every six weeks. The act of Communion is by the ancient method of "Intinction", where you take a piece of bread, dip it into the cup and then eat it.  It involves walking up the centre aisle to a station at the front of the sanctuary and afterwards, proceeding back to your seat.

Baptisms

Baptisms are celebrated throughout the season of the Church Year - September, January, April and June.

Intergeneration Services

Special intergenerational services, designed to appeal to all ages, are held at regular intervals throughout the year. These typically occur at the conclusion of each Carousel Rotation. On these Sundays there is no Church Sunday School classes except for Nursery care. Family Services are held during July and August.
